CHARLOTTECOUNTY FLA More than 40 shots were fired outside a Charlotte County bar and luckily, no one was hit. But deputies say armed security fired some shots in return.
The shooting happened early Saturday morning outside of Coyote's Bar and Grill at King's Highway and US-41.
"When deputies got on the scene almost immediately, everybody was laying on the ground," said Robert Carpenter, with the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. "We found a total of 42 casings in the parking lot. This was a serious thing."
Miraculously, no one was hit.
Charlotte County deputies say it all began around closing time at the bar.
A fight broke out inside and as everyone was going outside, it apparently got even more heated and someone started shooting.
"Detectives say the bartender, who was also armed, fired back at the three men trying to get away. One of them he says was shooting in various directions throughout the parking lot," said Carpenter.
The bouncer told deputies he hit their suburban with one shot. Then, he says they took off.
The sheriff's office is still trying to piece everything together.
