2 SECURITY OFFICER DEATHS
Cummings Ga. Security officer David Casto died after being shot in the head during a robbery at an Ingles grocery store.
Police have arrested four people in this murder case.
Polk
County IA. A court security officer died while involved in
training.
Cass Nemmers collapsed during a run at
the police academy where he was applying to be a deputy sheriff.
OFFICERS
SHOT
Brooklyn NY
Four unarmed security officers were shot when they
tried to detain a suspicious person.
All four were treated for non-life
threatening wounds. Police arrested the suspect in these shootings.
Glendale AZ. A Loomis
armored car security officer was shot during a robbery at a local
Wal-Mart.
The officer is in critical but stable
condition and police are still searching for the suspects.
Suffolk County NY A
security officer on patrol at the Poospatuck Indian Reservation was shot while
investigating a burglary at a warehouse. The suspect fled while the security
officer laid bleeding in the middle of a road. The officer is listed in fair
condition.

OFFICERS INJURED
Sommers NY
A security officer responding to a medical emergency was
involved in a traffic collision and his vehicle rolled over and pinned him
inside.
He was freed by the fire department and
taken to a local hospital with numerous injuries.
Wichita KS. A
nightclub security officer was hit by a car driven by a suspect who was irate
over being asked for identification.
The injured security officer was an
off-duty city police officer and was treated for his injuries. Police did arrest
the driver of the vehicle.
Vallejo CA. A security
officer working at a grocery store was attacked by a man with a meat cleaver
during a disturbance. Police arrived and shot the suspect who was later found to
be wanted for murder. The security officer was not seriously
injured.
Killen TX. A school
security officer suffered a broken nose, cuts on his arm and wrists and facial
injuries during a confrontation and assault with an unruly high school
student.
The security officer was treated and
released at a local hospital and the student has been arrested for
assault.
Austin TX. A JC Penney
loss prevention agent trying to stop a shoplifter suffered facial injuries, bite
marks and a broken pair of glasses when the shoplifter attacked the
agent.
The security agent and several
employees were able to detain the suspect until police took him into
custody.

OFFICER SHOOTINGS
Oklahoma City
Okla. Nightclub security shot and killed a man that was involved in a
confrontation with them.
Several of the officers stated that the
suspect had pulled a gun after being ejected from the club and began
firing.
San
Antonio TX- A security officer investigating a possible burglary at a
business found several people breaking into cars and was shot at by the
suspects. The armed officer exchanged gunfire with the suspects while they fled.
One of the suspects later was arrested at a local hospital where he sought
treatment for a bullet wound.
The security officer was not
injured.
